We are excited to announce that Pete Ripmaster has joined our Advisory Board! Pete Ripmaster is an ultra-marathoner and motivational speaker with a penchant for chasing adventure. Despite growing up with sports and being naturally athletic, Pete did not like running. It wasn’t until Pete lost his mother to breast cancer at the age of twenty-four that he found himself searching for something, his next adventure, which has led him to a career full of breaking barriers and inspiring others.
In addition to becoming an Iditarod Trail Invitational Champion, Pete has run fifty marathons in fifty states and raised over sixty thousand dollars for breast cancer, in honor of his mother. Through his motivational speaking endeavors, he inspires others to chase their passions through determination and grit, and speaks on a number of topics including setting and achieving audacious goals, running 50 Marathons in 50 States, depression and its vices, bullying, finding faith, and mindfulness. Pete is excited to bring his expertise and knowledge to the All Kids Play team!
All Kids Play is excited to announce we have awarded our first grant in Indiana, and the organization we are supporting is nothing short of amazing. AthLead Indy, a youth track and field organization that primarily serves a financially disadvantaged community, has a mission to enact community change through the youth of Indianapolis. AthLead Indy is designed for children to excel in track and field and as leaders in their communities, and as part of the program, the student-athletes are required to participate in monthly community service projects. To help support fantastic sports organizations and athletes like these, please consider contributing to our Back in the Game campaign at https://allkidsplay.org/donate/.
The extreme heat that has swept in over the past week is a serious reminder to keep our kids and ourselves hydrated, even when it's not this hot! Check out these great tips on how to ensure kids stay hydrated this summer.
It's #NationalEatYourVegetablesDay! Part of All Kids Play's mission is to provide education on safe and healthy play, which includes providing nutrition resources. Everyone knows veggies are healthy, but kids don't always like to eat them. One way to get them more excited about veggies is to make the eating experience fun. Check out these silly sandwich ideas that will make kids forget that they are even eating vegetables!
Karim really wanted to try soccer, and with All Kids Play’s help, he got to play in a great local recreational program focused on development and fun. He had such a great time that he is now playing another season this summer. We were so happy to help Karim find a great program that supported his love of soccer! To help other kids like Karim play sports, please consider donating toward our Back in the Game campaign at https://allkidsplay.org/donate/.
Children's Day is about appreciation of our children. It is a great opportunity to spend more time with them, talk and listen to them, praise and encourage their passions, and, finally, to show our love and affection. Children's Day is also an opportunity to promote the importance of a healthy and safe childhood in general. In the context of youth sports, it's also a great day to discuss with them what they love about playing and how we, as parents, can be more supportive in their endeavors.
We are excited to feature one of our fantastic #backinthegame sponsors this week, The Freshman Foundation. The Freshman Foundation is a coaching program that guides college-bound student athletes through the process of preparing for the mental and emotional challenges they will face at the next level of athletics. This program is led by @michaelvhuber, founder of @ftbperformancecoaching and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® with a master’s degree in sports psychology. He has worked with high school athletes for many years individually and in team settings to help them up their mental game. We are honored to have the Freshman Foundation as a sponsor. Thank you, Freshman Foundation!
