Meet Savanah

Keeping Savanah skating!

Savanah started playing ice hockey last year. She is in love with the sport. She has always been very shy and never wanted to be part of a team or play a sport because of her shyness. Hockey has really brought her out of her shell. Savanah’s mom applied for a youth sports grant from All Kids Play. As a single mother with one income and three children, the sports bills became impossible to pay.  All Kids Play was happy to assist the family in helping to keep Savanah on the ice playing the sport she loves.

All Kids Play, non-profit helping kids play sports, boys playing basketball, sports grants

Nahzair’s mom is a single mother that reached out to All Kids Play in an effort to keep Nahzair involved in his basketball program. All Kids Play was eager to assist, especially in light of the values of the basketball program.

The non-profit basketball program actively assists kids from income-restricted families. They focus on underprivileged youth from single-parent homes or from challenging backgrounds. The program helps guide the kids and their families to keep the student-athletes on the right path. The student-athletes are required to sign a contract to stay away from drugs, keep their grades up and respect the players, coaches and referee staff. The program’s goal is to get as many of their players into college as possible. Nahzair is on the right path in school and the basketball program.

Keeping Kimberley riding!

Youth sports equestrian riding horse with All Kids Play youth sports financial assistance grant with help of nonprofit donations

Kimberley has participated in equestrian sports starting at 11 years old. As an only child, with her father and mother constantly at work, she grew up fairly isolated. This made it very challenging for Kimberley to express herself and develop friendships. Ever since Kimberley began participating in equestrian, her parents could see her happiness increase dramatically. It was the first time they saw her true self bloom. She finally had something to look forward to and it inspired Kimberley to try her best in everything she did. Her unique bond with horses and the equestrian community has not only strengthened her mental health but physical strength as well.

In the fall of 2019, Kimberley discontinued the sport because Kimberley’s parents couldn’t continue to keep up with the financial demands of the sport. All Kids Play was able to help keep Kimberley in the saddle which has meant the world to her as she seeks to fulfill her potential in all aspects of her life. In the future, Kimberley hopes to participate in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in college and possibly the International Federation for Equestrian Sports.

Keeping this wrestler in the champion’s ring!

Congratulations to Grayson, a State and National Champion wrestler, for another great season! Grayson’s single mom, an amazing supporter of her two boys, needed some help keeping him on the mat while she worked a part-time job and battled stage 4 colon cancer. With All Kids Play’s support, Grayson was able to continue wrestling for one of the best developmental programs in the country. Their story is one of strength, unity and love for each other as well as the sport of wrestling. We are so proud to support this family!

Keeping Mya in the game!

Mya has been playing basketball for community leagues and her school for years. Basketball has given her an outlet to thrive both physically and mentally. The pandemic and the associated isolation caused Mya to be hesitant to continue with basketball. However, her passion for the game continued to spark her enthusiasm to stay in the game. Mya’s family found a high-quality basketball program close to home. Mya made the team! She was thrilled! The challenge was that due to the pandemic, Mya’s mom had been laid off and has been facing financial challenges. All Kids Play teamed up with the family to help enable Mya to continue playing. The spark has ignited a flame in Mya’s game.

Getting this school in the game!

In the Luck School District, they were trying to set up a Little Dribblers basketball program for the lower grade levels. When they reached out to All Kids Play, there was no program built for these grade levels in the School District and the District wanted to see that change. Being in a low income area with no additional funding for sports equipment, the Luck School District was hoping to receive assistance from All Kids Play. All Kids Play was able to provide basketballs needed for the kids to begin developing the fundamentals of basketballs. The kids are now able to train at school and practice at home too.

Keeping Serenity in gymnastics!

Serenity has beaten the odds and shown her passion and talent for gymnastics in a short period of time. She began recreational gymnastics in September of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. In less than 6 months time, she went up 3 levels and is already considered a level 3 / 4 gymnast! She was encouraged by her coaches to try out for the local AAU team in and got invited to join the USA gymnastics sanctioned Xcel team! Due to the pandemic, Serenity’s income-restricted family is down to one income. Serenity is 13 years old and her time is now. She has expressed to her mother that nothing has ever made her happier than gymnastics. Serenity wants to compete and use her gymnastics to get a scholarship to college. She dreams of making it to the Olympics. When the family reached out to All Kids Play for assistance to enable Serenity to compete on the gymnastics team at her gym, All Kids Play was all in.

Keeping Ava cheering!

Ava is 8 years old and has been tumbling for the last four years. Ava’s skills have grown from level 1 to level 2 from her amazing coaches. Unfortunately, the family was having difficulty continued to pay for the program. All Kids Play was able to help keep Ava tumbling and working towards her next goal.

Ava works hard, cheers her teammates on, tries everyday, and has straight A’s in school. This school year Ava had extra support for her speech and had some major obstacles but took them on like every other challenge and was able to reduce her speech classes. Ava’s growth in tumbling skills is increasing her confidence and she is not letting her speech disability define her.

Keeping Maxine on the court!

The Diaz family was eager to keep their daughter Maxine involved in a basketball skills training program. However, their financial situation was greatly impacted by the pandemic as was their ability to afford extracurricular activities. When the Diaz family contacted All Kids Play for assistance, All Kids Play was happy to step up. Maxine continues to thrive on the court and in the classroom.

Getting the kids of Blunt Public School in the game!

When a Physical Education teacher reached out saying that she would love to make a “Soccer Play Zone” on a piece of land by the school but needed soccer balls to make it happen, All Kids Play stepped up. The students are now able to have intramural teams, have friendly but challenging competition as well as get some much needed physical activity. During the pandemic, the teachers at the income-restricted school noticed children were missing social interaction and team building. The “Soccer Play Zone” is providing that and so much more! The Blount School has now implemented soccer into their school improvement plan and their wellness policy.

Keeping this New York kid in the game

Noah always wanted to play in the local basketball league at his family’s neighborhood park in NYC. The neighborhood park is Dyckman Park. Dyckman Park is a famous park in NYC for outdoor basketball. The non-profit associated with the Park also offers a variety of youth sports opportunities.

Noah always watched the league in the past and his single mom reached out to All Kids Play to see if we could help provide Noah with the opportunity to also play and be a part of a team. All Kids Play was happy to help make this happen for Noah.

Getting the refugee kids of Chicago in the game!

The All Kids Play team was in Warren Park in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago this spring for the spring session of the All Kids Play refugee youth soccer program. The program participants are refugee kids that fled war, terror and persecution around the world to resettle with their families in the U.S. These kids are not only developing physically, mentally and emotionally from the soccer skills training but they are also learning important life skills from the mentor coaches leading the program. The program also provides the kids with access to academic tutoring. A big thanks to our non-profit friends at RefugeeOne, Chicago City Soccer Club, Educate Radiate Elevate and the Trevian Soccer Club Foundation for making this program possible.
